Hello, Sports Fans!

With eight returning starters as well as the entire pitching staff and an abundance of senior leadership, the 2007 Baker Honeybees are poised to return to the Alabama state tournament. This year's success will be directly proportional to the committment of the senior class.

Seniors Kandace Breeland, Natalie Charles, Kelsy Donaldson, Meghan Harbuck, Amber Hester, Monica Meadows, Krista Rodden, and Meghan Wallace still feel the sting of losing last year to Opelika in the sub-state and falling just short of reaching the state tournament for the sixth consecutive year. These seniors lead practice each day with a purpose: make it back to state.

Juniors Jenny Laird and Samantha Shelley, along with lone sophomore Kacey Ost, will lend their support in this year's campaign to make it to state, and the freshmen need to elevate their game to be contributors as well. Freshman pitcher Jennifer Turner, who moved in to Baker's district from Robertsdale, along with freshmen Ariel Wharton, JoJo Calhoun, Jessica Rogers, Charley Stewart, and Carli Middleton, comprise a gifted freshman class that should make their presence known.

The Honeybees open the season on Monday, Feb. 19th with a round-robin tournament, hosting local powers Daphne, Satsuma, and Mobile Christian on the Baker field.
